The Problem:

The existing DC Health Website was designed 14 years ago.

  • Over time, content sprawl and a poor UI has made the site difficult to navigate.

  • It looks dated and there are accessibility issues.

  • A lot of content needs to be revisited because some is outdated, uses too many acronyms, or is departmentally focused.

Research Process

Stakeholder Meetings

I created a Redesign Committee made up of over twenty stakeholders from all administrations. After multiple meetings individually and in group settings, I summarized their primary goals and secondary goals.

Competitive Analysis

I evaluated every other Department of Health website from all fifty states to assess their solutions to similar challenges.

I created a user survey to gather feedback about the current site and aspirations for the new one. 129 respondents replied from a wide range of user types.
